Never Stop

By The Architect

I’m not a crier.

And I’ll be honest, I don’t usually cry about EJami. I feel huge swells of emotion in my chest, either a crazy endorphin rush in the loving and sexy times or a tightening stress during the less loving and sexy times. But tears – not really.

Well, I was just in Atlanta this past weekend at the DCE  fundraiser, where James Scott (EJ DiMera) attended. He was in a pretty great mood, and the question he probably asked EJami fans more than anything else was, “are you enjoying the story line?” Naturally, these fans (old timers and newbies alike) were more than happy to share their joy about it.

These events always have a way to motivating the base, and this one was no exception. Friends, old and new, talked to me about how they were really going to make an effort to show TPTB just how much they love what they’re seeing and I agreed. While it’s been good to just sit back, relax, and enjoy this (because we certainly earned it), I refuse to take it for granted.

Last night I was cruising around YouTube checking out the latest EJami montages and I stumbled across a few that struck me so deeply. And as I watched one, by one of my favorite vidders LunaStar1406, and I was reminded of EJ’s undying love for Sami and the fulfillment he now feels, I….. cried. (Okay, maybe just a tear or two, but seriously, there was moisture in my eyes). He We finally got what we’ve wanted for so long.

It was a cathartic moment, and I realized that the song she used, “Never Stop,” and the lyrics like “I will never stop choosing you” and “You still get my heart racing,” sort of took on new meaning. I could relate.

So in the end, life happens and you can’t always make time to share your love with TPTB, but don’t let it slip away. Don’t take it for granted. Love it, enjoy it, post about it, celebrate it, and cry about it every now and again.

“Even when I said I didn’t love you, I loved you” – EJami’s engagement scenes

That one line kinda says it all, doesn’t it? For them and I don’t know about you, but it certainly sums it up for me.

It took a while to come down off the high that was seeing EJ and Sami FINALLY get engaged in the truest, loveliest way possible for them. Like this post, there could have been the temptation to come up with huge fireworks, explosion, or some grand wvwnt, but in the end, it was simply all about their love for each other.  And that’s all we really needed.

Just click play and enjoy!

The Terrible Case of Knowing Too Much

By, The Architect

Remember a time when you casually watched Days of Our Lives? Maybe it was on sick days, or in the summer when you were out of school. You had no idea what was going to happen next and you had no idea, nor cared, what happened backstage. There was probably a time when you didn’t know the actors names and you certainly didn’t know who was writing the show. Your entire knowledge of how soap operas were made basically came from the movie Soap Dish, and that was so far-fetched (or so you thought). You just watched.

If you visit this blog regularly, chances are that those days of ignorant bliss are far in your rear view mirror. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish actor from character. You not only know who is writing your show, but who the executive producers are, the directors, the wardrobe lady. You even know how long ago the show was taped. So when a shake up at Days happens and they fire the writing staff and bring in failed creative staff that were fired less than a year ago, it really kills any positive feelings that you may be having. It’s hard to have faith in something when it’s just a plain mess. It’s also hard to suspend disbelief.

This is the boat that I’m in. I’ve been on an EJami high for the past week or so and I’ve been so into the show. All the possibilities! I put aside my crusty thoughts about Ken Corday and all the backstage BS. It wasn’t Ali and James doing their bit, it was EJ and Sami – the characters, the story, the soap. I relish the moments when I forget, when I don’t care about strategy, or who is at the helm this week.

You know you’ve been through the ringer as an EJami fan when you heard this news and automatically flinched, figuring that EJami was off the table. I’m sure pretty much everyone went there in their minds, at least a little bit.

So, I’ve had it. I don’t care who’s in charge anymore. All I know is that right now I like what is on screen and I’m going to enjoy it as much as possible until it ends. Maybe it won’t end and I’ll get everything I ever wished for. Most likely I won’t, and when the time comes I’ll decide whether to tune in or not, but until then, I am going to get lost in every EJami moment.

Like Mother, Like Daughter / Like Mother, Like Son

When I learned that Will was going to catch Sami and EJ in the act, I’m pretty sure I made such a high pitched squeal of joy that only little furry animals could hear it. The writers and the actors involved acknowledge that this twist of story, having Will go through what Sami went through when she caught her mother and John together, is going to have a similar impact.

Will is going through so much already and this is truly a turning point for him. Besides the fact that Chandler Massey is knocking it out of the park with his performance, the writing has been solid, and the directing too. The Christmas tree decorating party, was in my opinion, some of the best stuff I’ve seen in awhile. I loved how Sami was chewing out Marlena and then Will turned on her. The way the shot was framed with Marlena in the background, was pure soap awesomeness.

So far, I want to tune in to every second of this story.

And just because I can’t let this go unmentioned, everyone ganging up on Sami at the beginning of the episode about her being mad about Marlena being there was like an delicious dose of the old days. As a giant Sami fan, I finally feel like we’re getting back to where we’re supposed to be.

What are your thoughts on this story.

A Good, Tension-Filled Start

I thought yesterday’s episode was good, and mostly because I saw my girl Sami come roaring back to life.

The effective use of the clock, ratcheted the tension of the scenes. If there were no spoilers about what happens after, I think it would have made the scenes even more stressful, as you wonder what will happen and if they would reach Johnny in time. Oh well, since I love spoilers and am not giving them up, I’ll deal.

James and Ali were convincing in their scenes, and I did feel their concern for Johnny – tinged with their usual self-absorption.  They’re not heroes and I never expect them to act like it.  Both of them got a little shrieky, but again, I expect them to be like that, it’s their way of trying to dominate and control the situation, by sheer sound lol.  They were concerned about their son, and you could feel that connection between them. Every one was telling them to calm down, but they understood that that wasn’t going to happen until Johnny is back in their arms. Even when EJ was yelling at Sami about bringing the kids to the pub, Sami was completely agreeing with him, nodding as he asked her what she was thinking. It was that little moment that resonated with me. Along with the hug….oh the hug.  It’s been so long, I simply enjoyed it. And rewound….multiple times.

I thought it odd to have Nicole, who professes to love those children like her own, more concerned about the campaign. But, I did enjoy seeing her fade into the background as EJ comforted Sami. Physical contact! It was great to see.

I love seeing Sami go off regarding  John and Marlena and her view of them. Sami may have forgiven them, but Sami is a character that forgives but doesn’t forget. She never has, and for her to have that deep seated resentment towards Marlena and her choosing John makes sense. It’s who Sami is – when her back’s against the wall and she feels threatened, the nasty side lashes out. What I never believed is when she would try to be the “good girl” and do what’s expected, instead of what’s instinctive.

Marlena of course, was concerned about John’s well being. Drake effectively showed the pain and guilt John was feeling at Johnny’s disappearance. Drake pulled at my hearstrings, and I loved it.  He was being the hero and not a douchey one.

A good start to a action-packed week I think.

SOD Feature: Bad Romance (Jen and Daniel)

Please link back to http://rogue-ejami.com.

They say that breaking up is hard to do … but we wish these five duos would get on with it already.

Jennifer Horton and Daniel Jonas

Courtship Shape: Jennifer and Daniel crossed paths in January of this year, when he saved her from dying after her heart was surgically removed by wacky Lee during the organ-stealing drama in the prison infirmary. They grew close during her recovery and were there for each other when their respective marriages – hers to Jack, his to Chloe – fell apart. That friendship slowly blossomed into more, though it never quite had the sexy spark. It was a fine, everyday romance, nothing earth shattering.

Splittin’ Time: Unfortunately, the blessing and curse of DAYS is that it’s supercouple-based. Jack and Jennifer are part of that love and have maintained a loyal following for two decades. So, now that Jack is back in town – with a sob story of being held captive in Afghanistan as the reason he’s been out of touch — it’s hard not to feel legitimately bad for the guy and want him with Jen again. Plus, he’s making a heart-wrenching effort to win her back. Though it’s kind of different and modern that Jen is dating both men, it’s a stopgap: It’s destiny that the Deverauxes will reunite.

Rebound And Determined: Once Jack and Jennifer are officially back together, Dr. J — who is now battling Nicole for the title of Salem’s most unlucky in love — should reunite with Chloe. He had the most genuine, passionate connection with her and it never made sense that once he dumped her, that was it. (Not that it wasn’t for a good reason — passing off someone else’s child as your husband’s never works out well.) But they barely ever spoke again. It is so unsoap-like that we’re still trying to figure out the logic. “Danloe’s had it’s fans, too. Chloe can move back to Salem, mend Daniel’s broken heart and then seal the deal by getting pregnant with miracle baby No. 2″
