10 Days That Changed Everything: Where Do We Go From Here?

In this five part series, the Rogues dig deep into some of the recent EJami episodes of Days of Our Lives. In the span of ten days, everything about the EJ and Sami story changed.

Part 5: Where Do We Go From Here?

By, The Point Man

Let me preface this by saying Sami and EJ have been my “ship” for the past 6 ½ years. I had never experienced this level of interest in a fictional couple before, and I doubt I ever will again. The past few weeks have reduced me to giggles and smiles, so happy with my OTP I can barely string a coherent thought together. Hence the difficulty in posting.

I mean, what do you say when everything you’ve ever wanted to see happen for your favorite characters actually happens? There is no analysis, no need to view a scene with an eye towards subtext and trying to understand the writers’ intent (and let’s face it, on the really bad days, some serious fanwanking). EJami is right there for all the world to see. Sami LOVES EJ, EJ LOVES Sami and man, has it been wonderful.

Perhaps it has been made all the sweeter because it because it’s been such a long, rough road….though really DAYS, I could’ve done without the last couple of years of angst…..just sayin’ ;)

Anyway, now that we have had Sami accepting her feelings (in the most awesome way possible), EJ and Sami are finally embarking on the next stage of their relationship. A genuine relationship where there is no doubt that they love each other, there is no struggle as they fight their feelings, where we are finally seeing open and loving affection between them on a regular basis.

Wait, I have to take a moment to savor that.

Ok, let’s move on.

So, where do we go from here? I mean, the battle’s done (why yes, Sami really loves EJ and he loves her), and we pretty much won (as much as you ever can on a soap) and we’ve sounded our victory cheer squee. But the story doesn’t end. It never ends on a soap, and we must look to the future.

What will the show do now? EJ and Sami will certainly play their part in Will/Gabi’s baby story, but I do believe that this is a transition phase for EJami, and eventually there will be a story arc that will focus on whatever will be the next obstacle is for EJami. The pleasure in this is that it will be an obstacle they face together. Below are admittedly more questions than answers, but I think that EJ and Sami will have to deal with all of these things….it’s just a matter of when, not if.

The first, the classic story, the one that’s been dying to be told and I think the one with the richest of storyline possibilities, is DiMera and Brady forbidden love allowed to triumph over all. The last attempt at a Brady and DiMera star-crossed love pairing ended tragically, with only Santo and Colleen’s souls meeting in the hereafter. With Sami and EJ’s own tortured history being an obstacle in their quest for their families’ acceptance, will their new love survive the fallout? The Bradys will always equate evil with DiMera, and DiMeras will always find something to hate the Bradys for. Will the feud finally, truly, be over? Or will it simply go on and on, with EJ and Sami and their kids caught in the middle?

Will the Bradys be able to take the sticks out of their asses long enough to see that these two are happy and stop judging them? Will Stefano be able to resist the allure of brain chips and doppelgangers to keep our couple apart? Will Chad and Kristen’s own twisted paths to love cause problems for our duo? Will anymore undiscovered DiMeras (damn Stefano and his plentiful progeny) make their way to Salem?

Speaking of Stefano — with his return to Salem, he will have to contend with the fact that EJ, isn’t his easily controlled, good DiMera soldier anymore. Stefano has manipulated and managed EJ his entire life with his constant withholding of love, affection and approval. However, Stefano caused an immense amount of damage to his relationship with EJ when he disowned him for the crime of not being his blood son, only to find out that it was all a lie. EJ hasn’t had to deal with Steffy face to face for a while now, so what will happen when Stefano isn’t a half a world away?.

How will EJ handle Stefano’s interference in his life? What will he do to their relationship to wrest control of EJ back from Sami? How will he handle it if Stefano possibly involves him (whether deliberately or inadvertently) in a scheme that could hurt Sami or her family? As for prodigal sister Kristen, will she use her brother in her quest for revenge and endanger his relationship with Sami?

These are just some of the questions I have, all of which could lead to juicy story. EJ and Sami as a couple is endless and unchartered territory, they simply have to write it. And if they write it well, the fans will come along for the ride.

We hope you enjoyed this five part series. It was a pleasure for us to write it. And if you didn’t click on the video we embedded up above, you should. It’s our gift to you. This one video has all the scenes we’ve been gushing over. Yeah. In one single place. We’re sorry if you can’t walk away from your computer for a long time.

Random thoughts about a bottle of wine and some (flirty) EJami conversation

Ok, so I’m still smiling from that EJ and Sami convo yesterday. It might be one the best conversation they’ve ever had, and certainly one of the most adult. Some of the best moments, in no particular order:

  1. Sami scoffing at EJ “changing”….yet not running from the room in a fit of righteous indignation. Progress.
  2. EJ knowing almost instantaneously that Sami was the “rat”
  3. EJ’s dismissal of Kayla, his complete focus on his Samanther. I can NEVER get enough of that.
  4. Sami’s dismissal of Kayla! She had an out, and she wouldn’t take it. She wanted to talk to EJ.
  5. Admission that they both think they’re the center of their own universes.
  6. Yes, Sami – I think that’s one of the (many, many) reasons why the sex was so good.
  7. EJ tapping the bottom of the bottle.
  8. Their relaxed postures, the hand holding – any time these two touch each other is good for me.
  9. Eyesex – theirs is always pretty amazing, and the flirty glances over glasses of wine was fantastic.
  10. Their inability to figure out why they can’t stop messing up – it’s because they can’t help but be drawn to each other…for better or worse.
  11. EJ saying that he was happy with Nicole…..eventually. Ha! Nothing screams second choice like “eventually.”
  12. Sami’s fervent desire to work and take care of the children and EJ’s support.
  13. His ability to revel in what Sami does, when everyone else judges and sneers, is one of the best things about them.

I’ll admit this week has been a bit of unexpected joy with so much EJ and Sami interaction.  If the day ahead plays out a tenth as good as it sounds from the spoiler (“EJ tells Sami he will always be there for her”), then it’ll be one of the best weeks ever! Wait, wasn’t that a show on VH1? Whatevs, I’ll take it.

Warning: DAYS will cause massive squeeing if you’re an EJami fan – so watch!

Just a heads up – if you or someone you know is an EJami fan, there will be gasps and sighs, and possible shouts of glee watching today’s US episode of DAYS.  Please be forewarned.

There will be EJami flirting, drinking, and genuine adult conversation that doesn’t end in violence.

And so, so many anvils dropped that there is danger of a concussion from it…or from you jumping around in sheer joy at positive EJami interaction.

If you haven’t seen the scenes, they are posted on our site. BUT….You ABSOLUTELY should show your support and watch the show, live if possible, or watch your DVR’d version as soon as you can.  I know I will be. :)

A Good, Tension-Filled Start

I thought yesterday’s episode was good, and mostly because I saw my girl Sami come roaring back to life.

The effective use of the clock, ratcheted the tension of the scenes. If there were no spoilers about what happens after, I think it would have made the scenes even more stressful, as you wonder what will happen and if they would reach Johnny in time. Oh well, since I love spoilers and am not giving them up, I’ll deal.

James and Ali were convincing in their scenes, and I did feel their concern for Johnny – tinged with their usual self-absorption.  They’re not heroes and I never expect them to act like it.  Both of them got a little shrieky, but again, I expect them to be like that, it’s their way of trying to dominate and control the situation, by sheer sound lol.  They were concerned about their son, and you could feel that connection between them. Every one was telling them to calm down, but they understood that that wasn’t going to happen until Johnny is back in their arms. Even when EJ was yelling at Sami about bringing the kids to the pub, Sami was completely agreeing with him, nodding as he asked her what she was thinking. It was that little moment that resonated with me. Along with the hug….oh the hug.  It’s been so long, I simply enjoyed it. And rewound….multiple times.

I thought it odd to have Nicole, who professes to love those children like her own, more concerned about the campaign. But, I did enjoy seeing her fade into the background as EJ comforted Sami. Physical contact! It was great to see.

I love seeing Sami go off regarding  John and Marlena and her view of them. Sami may have forgiven them, but Sami is a character that forgives but doesn’t forget. She never has, and for her to have that deep seated resentment towards Marlena and her choosing John makes sense. It’s who Sami is – when her back’s against the wall and she feels threatened, the nasty side lashes out. What I never believed is when she would try to be the “good girl” and do what’s expected, instead of what’s instinctive.

Marlena of course, was concerned about John’s well being. Drake effectively showed the pain and guilt John was feeling at Johnny’s disappearance. Drake pulled at my hearstrings, and I loved it.  He was being the hero and not a douchey one.

A good start to a action-packed week I think.

Ok, I’ve seen the spoilers – is that it?

After we posted the spoilers last night, all I can think of is, is that it? This is what’s going on for sweeps?

Jack and Jennifer seem to be the highlight of the spoilers I’ve seen. The rest simply makes me yawn. Jack and Jennifer’s story has potential and I don’t mind the pacing ( think it’s good to play it out beat by beat instead of Jen and Abby instantly forgiving him for leaving), but it’s not enough to carry a show.

Bo and Hope renewing their vows for the eleventy billionth time is sweet, but not exciting. Victor and Maggie getting married is alright, but doesn’t make me want to rush home to watch.  John having some doubt about his guilt isn’t a spoiler – it’s simply logical, based on his history. His brain’s Swiss cheese….though perhaps they should be talking to Stefano – I believe he had a CD backup of John’s mind. >.<

As an EJami fan, goodness knows I’m used to disappointment and lowered expectations. And yes, I believe that EJami could bring a level of excitement and buzz if they were to be revisited since there is so much left unsaid.

But even if I wasn’t an EJami fan, I think I’d still be disappointed with these spoilers.  There isn’t any wow factor, anything that seems remotely exciting or even unexpected.

I hope there’s something compelling on the horizon, because this isn’t it.

Random Thoughts: Oct 3 – 7

Monday

  • Seeing slo-mo on DAYS is so strange. I like that they’re mixing it up though.
  • EJ and Sami! In scenes! Kinda shocked that it’s come up this quickly. Love EJ reminding Sami that he’s taking a page out of her book. They are two of a kind.
  • John stealing pensions is still such a foreign concept – I’m eager to hear the explanation.
  • Oh Jack – held hostage? “you know I hate the outdoors! Bears live outdoors!”
  • The first hint of Madison….yeah, jury’s still out.
  • Sami lying! Defiant and snarky. Be still my Sami loving heart. I’ll admit it, I’m ready for the cracks to show in her current relationship. It’s about freakin’ time.
  • Jennifer believing him right off the bat? Was not expecting that.
  • Well, show – I’m still ready to see JJ. You can bring him in any time now.
  • I never realized how much Missy Reeves reminds me of Sally Field, physically.
  • I’m not a big Jarlena fan, but that final scene is so in keeping with their relationship – Marlena, focused on John to the exclusion of all else. John, stoic and strong.

Tuesday

  • So there’s the meet-cute moment between Mad and Brady. Brady ending up embarrassed is….not horrible.
  • So John got the beat down….is it bad that I’m more impressed with the defiant dirty cop? Probably.
  • I like the new set. I think the first meeting should have been at Chez Rouge, but it’s a minor quibble.
  • EJ’s laying it on thick.  I’m not buying the sales pitch, but I’m curious why he’s going at it so hard. And yes, EJ – you are a dirty charming scoundrel.
  • Ooh Marlena snapping back at Hope! LOL That was kind of awesome.
  • Nicole I can’t believe you’re listening to this either. So much for the strong woman bit.
  • Madison got that look like she smelled something bad at the mention of Kate’s name. I think I’m gonna like their rivalry. Alot.
  • If they pin the Basic Black on the DiMeras, I will not be impressed. It would be tired and predictable. But the writing has been stronger than it’s been in a long time, so I’m going to keep an open mind.

Wednesday

  • Victor: “She’s one of my favorite ex-wives” Brady: (whispers) “the bar is really low though” – HA!
  • I really like the Jack, Abby and Jennifer scenes – they feel genuine and I like that the anger doesn’t just dissipate overnight. There should be fallout from Jack’s latest scheme.  I would have been fine with less yelly, more emotion-y from Abby though.
  • And, um, Jack you should have cut the hair when you shaved the beard.
  • A text is gonna feel like he’s [Will] right there with her [Marlena]? Ugh, bad bad line for Sami.
  • While I have a different opinion than some, so I didn’t mind Sami’s excitement for a new job.  Her exuberance is not to everyone’s taste, and I get that.  But, what I am tired of the over the top-ness of this sugary story for Sami.  I know I’m biased, but I’m a Sami fan, so I try to be happy for her [and for EJ] when they get something good.  However, the more they focus on the saccharine-ness of Sami and Rafe, the more eager I get for her to finally break free and be the villainess I love. This schmoopy stuff is for the birds.
  • Oh Kate, you were looking a bit the worse for wear after that encounter with Madison.  “You do that!”  Um, score 1 for Mad.

Thursday

  • EJ looks good in white. Really good.
  • This campaign publicist storyline is just really nonsensical.
  • I appreciate that the Johnny Maddow story is actually continuing in a fairly realistic manner..
  • I’m glad they’re addressing the custody issue but he doesn’t instantly have them back.
  • Austin [to Carrie]: “You’re the most honest person I know”  Riiiiight…except for the times you cheated on me. Or with me.
  • I want to like Austin and Carrie. Not there, but I want to.
  • Yes! EJ and Lexie needed to talk. But it still leaves me wondering what EJ’s grand plan is. But I’ll say this – I love that he even has one.

Friday

  • Maddy McIntyre? Well, I wasn’t expecting that.
  • I do love that red blouse on Sami.
  • Small quibble – if the FBI’s involved it would be federal charges, which means it’s the US Attorney’s office, not the DA.
  • I like the way the bank statement story is unfolding for Bo & Hope.
  • Ah the gasping – it’s so Marlena lol.
  • How many times can Nicole try to quit? I’m already getting tired of it.
  • Class action lawsuit? Oh EJ.  That is definitely one way to get the people of Salem on your side.

I feel like I’m praising DAYS for actually telling a realistic story and all its beats, instead of zooming from plot point to plot point, alot more these days. Congratulations DAYS! You’re doing what you’re supposed to do. Now keep it up.

Random Thoughts: Sep 30

I guess this is better late than never :D but I’m sure you can forgive me. I’ve been in shock since I found out the possibility of losing James on DAYS. It disrupted my viewing of the show, since I couldn’t see past the red. But it’s passed, since he’s staying (yay!) so here we go:

  • EJ’s announcement!! Deliciously funny to see all those faces stare at him like he’s lost his mind. The possibilities for this storyline, and how it will drive the good citizens of Salem batsh!t crazy are quite frankly, wonderful.
  • Jack’s story – I really wish we could have seen it.  Hopefully this won’t drag out too long.
  • Somehow Jen’s reaction to Jack being back has brought her fire back. Much love.
  • Jack! I can’t wait til the beard’s gone.
  • Oh John – that the charges seem plausible in the real world is kinda weird, in its freshness for DAYS. I think I like it.
  • Finally, a decent Friday

Random Thoughts – Sep 28 and 29th

  • Ok, things have slowed down. Alot. Hmph.
  • Well, that was a weird little bit between Roman and Marlena. Actually this whole episode feels like it’s treading water til tomorrow.
  • I don’t get the EJ and Nicole bit. I just don’t.
  • Love that they’re giving Chloe a proper send off.  Kinsey is um, super eager to be Chloe’s nanny, eh?
  • Adrienne looks amazing. I love Judi.
  • That is an outrageously lime green cake. Kinda happy Jack’s gonna fall through it.
  • Stefano! Now we’ve got a party.
  • Oooh, the old John stink eye at ‘Fano. How I’ve missed that.
  • How long is this speech by Lexie? Dear sweet Jeebus, make it stop.
  • At least the pratfall’s over. But I do love how Jack got some bass in his voice telling Dr. Dan to back off. Now THAT is intriguing.
  • So, clearly the blog and “finding himself” was some ruse by Jack, wasn’t it?
  • Please bring JJ back.  It’s now beyond ridiculous that the kid isn’t here.
  • BEST LINE: “Too bad she decided to put her cart behind an ass instead of a horse.” I can think of so many couples that actually applies to.
  • Awww Jack/Adrienne!!!!!!!!!!! At least somebody’s happy to see him, besides the audience.
  • Kate and Stefano are like the best Waldorf and Statler.
  • Yay EJ!

Random Thoughts – Sep 27th

  • John and Marlena being back is nice. It feels more like Days.
  • Love how the actors just grouped as friends, instead of characters who don’t talk and/or hate each other lol.
  • Chloe in pants is strange. But she’s all matchy with Brady. Awww.
  • Oh Kate. Ever the stylish party pooper.
  • Damn, do Dan and Jennifer need to make out every 5 seconds?
  • Who’s going to be Kate’s model?
  • Mel looks like a cabaret singer. Oh look, new triangle. Yawn.
  • No, Jen – it’s Jack staring holes into your back. Look around woman!
  • Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!! EJ and his kids!!!!! Finally. Damn where’s my tissue?
  • So much love for that scene! yeah, I’m done. My EJami on screen <<<<<<<<33333333333333
  • Love Chloe confronting Kate. Even if she can’t count. (that was more than 10 words sweetie)
  • Liked the little memories shared about the Hortons. Very sweet.
  • Ok, Roman actually made me laugh.
  • Oh EJ, looking at Sami and the kids. Heart flutters.
  • Camera angle’s different – zooming from ceiling – they’re really going all out, aren’t they?
  • Um, the tree moment’s kinda Whoville, but sweet.
  • So far, so not-so-bad.  Good on ya, Days!

Random Thoughts: Sep 26th – A New Day

  • I want Hope’s hair
  • Aww Doug & Julie look great
  • Dr. Dan needs a suit
  • I think all Salem couches need to be burned, start fresh
  • Jack – why does no one see you!?!
  • That color looks fabulous on Kate
  • I understand synergy (yes, you NBC/Bravo). But really? Unnecessary.
  • When did Chad start looking that good?
  • I love you Sami….questionable style choices aside.
  • Carrie and Austin! Ok, a little anticlimactic, but still….
  • “I run a multinational conglomerate. You are a hooker.” Ha!
  • But for reals Kate, that sentence should read “I run a multinational conglomerate….and I was a hooker.”
