In this five part series, the Rogues dig deep into some of the recent EJami episodes of Days of Our Lives. In the span of ten days, everything about the EJ and Sami story changed.
Part 3: The Sex
By, The Professor
Let’s discuss the EJami sex, shall we? While I catch my breath, I’ll say that I was a bit concerned if the lovemaking of 2013 would stand up to the lovemaking of 2008, which we adoringly call Napping. First one has to consider that the scenes of 2008 were totally new territory for EJ and Sami. That encounter was sweet, explorative and yes, passionate. But there was one huge difference in that time and what we saw on Monday February 4, 2013. Sami was openly admitting her love and passion for EJ.
A mutual exchange of the physical expression of love which includes two people who are totally invested is a beautiful thing. EJami making love was beautiful. But it was more. Viewers may have wondered why the lighting of the scenes was so dark. I can offer some ideas as to why they were filmed in that way. One is that it was night and the moonlight streaming through the windows where a breeze ruffled the curtains was realistic and very sexy. Two is the idea that this lovemaking was, shall we say, more risque than the 2008 model. It fairly sizzled with the detail of these two adoring one another’s bodies. At times I found myself holding my breath in response. I also almost felt voyeuristic watching such intimacy. Thirdly the concept of low light with a lots of shadowy movement could have been an artistic choice. Who knows? What I do know is that I was entranced, held spellbound by EJ and Sami.
How could a fan of EJami ask for more than the preamble to lovemaking followed by the passionate night and morning that EJ and Sami shared? It was exquisite. There was love, trust, passion and fun. Had I not been already so in love with this pair, this long awaited reconciliation would have hooked me for life. I’m so glad I got a front row seat to the best couple in daytime.
Tune in tomorrow for Part 4: The Afterglow.
As It Should Be-EJ and his children
So how do you feel about EJ running for Mayor of Salem?
For myself I think this is a great idea. On the surface it seems such an unlikely idea. EJ DiMera, the junior thug of Salem running for political office? But let’s look at the whole picture. EJ’s brother-in-law Abe Carver is currently the Mayor of Salem. He assumed this position when Stefano put a hit out on the former Mayor. In fact, said Mayor died on Stefano’s front doorstep. But what has Abe done as Mayor? Thinking, thinking… All I can come up with is a little posturing at the Salem PD or as we here in the Rogue Headquarters like to call it, The Brady PD. Much as I like Abe, he is rather dull and his re-election to office would not have me sitting on the edge of my seat. On the other hand, EJ running against Abe is just brimming with storyline possibilities. One could even say this story could be an umbrella that would include almost all of the characters on the Days canvas.
On a purely selfish level I have to say EJ running for Mayor thrills me. I love the idea of EJ having such a rich storyline and if he is busy with that, perhaps he will not be so anxious to look for love in all the “wrong” places. Let love take a backseat for now. EJ has lofty goals and number one is reshaping the image of the DiMeras. One hopes that given the scenes of yesterday, September 27th, EJ and his children will no longer be separated. If the new Days is really family-oriented EJ will indeed play a role in his children’s lives.
Now that you have heard what The Professor thinks of the upcoming storyline for EJ, what do you think?
Part of the Rogue EJami reset is to share with you more posts from individual Rogues. Believe it or not, we’re not always in agreement about everything little thing. We all love EJami, that’s standard and what brought us together, but when it comes to the rest of the show, well our opinions can vary to say the least.

The September 23rd Episode
To get things started, a handful of Rogues posted their thoughts on the September 23 preset show. Here you can see how we stand apart:
So Friday September 23, 2011 has come and gone. We, the Days of Our Lives, audience have had a tease of what the Days.2 may feel like. The show had limited cast members on this episode. The audience was treated to numerous flashbacks. The feeling of family and unity was very evident.
On the one hand, we had the hosts for the big party in the rejuvenated Salem Square, Bo and Hope. Joining them at the Horton home were Jennifer, Maggie, Julie and Doug. It was so wonderful to see Julie and Doug. I have loved them forever and I still do. Hopefully the reset will include more sightings of this pair. They add maturity and longevity to the show. And darn it, they are adorable. This group certainly added the lure of excitement to tune in Monday.
As usual my favorite moments were those shared by EJ and Stefano. The two actors have a great dynamic and their scenes often keep me glued to the show. Friday was no exception. First let me be totally superficial and say how refreshing it was to see EJ clad in running clothes as opposed to the ubiquitous suit viewers see constantly. Real people wear jean, sweats, and all types of clothes. From watching EJ these last few years, one would think the man even slept in a suit. Thanks to the show for putting him in other clothes. EJ DiMera went from being Junior, a large boy who dwelled in his father’s shadow always seeking to please Daddy, to a man who has decided to accept who he is and glory in it. But what thrilled me so very much about these scenes was the main motivation for EJ to reform the DiMera name is for his children. Since EJ handed over Johnny and Sydney to Sami, they have rarely been mentioned by their father. That is not the EJ viewers know. EJ is once again smart, thoughtful and determined. I have missed this character. Stefano was skeptical and very protective of the DiMera name. But let’s face it, EJ would have to execute crazy schemes for about ten years to even come close to rivaling Stefano’s destruction of the DiMera name. But that is just a tiny flaw in Stefano’s reasoning. How very DiMera of him.
I can honestly say I enjoyed all of the show on September 23rd. The new writers have a long way to go, as the show is in pretty bad shape, but I am willing to watch, listen and see what is in store for Days 2.0.
Suddenly after more than three torturous months, September 26th is almost upon us. For me, most of the past three years has been agonizing, especially the last year. Yes it seems that since September of 2010 there was a plot afoot to utterly destroy Days of Our Lives and its characters. Suffice it to say, it was ugly. I say this not just as an ardent EJami fan but as a fan of DOOL. But, a new day is dawning. Are you ready? I am. I’m so ready that I have wished, hoped and prayed that MarDar, as the new writing team has been affectionately dubbed, will be a smashing success, even if the story I most want to see is not onscreen at the beginning of the reset. Good stories, good characterization, new sets and a simple love of the soap genre is all I ask -for now.
So good luck, bonne chance and may the wind be always at your back Days of Our Lives. This is your chance to shine. Bring it!!
